The Year of Sustainability Pin stands as a testament to the creative and eco-conscious collaboration between ARDH Collective, Asateer, and Mohamed Rowaizak. Entrusted with the task of creating a pin for the Year of Sustainability initiative, the team embarked on a journey of exploration, pondering the abundance of materials surrounding us and how best to utilise them in a sustainable manner. 

Reflecting on our community’s profound bond with nature, this pin has been meticulously handcrafted, uniting locally-sourced date seeds with remnants of mother of pearl dust and plantable paper. As each pin is meticulously crafted and adorned with locally-sourced materials, it serves as a testament to the rich tapestry of our environment and the interconnectedness of all living beings. 

ARDH Collective’s revolutionary date seed based solid surface material, DATEFORM in the finish “It’s Roasted”  was enhanced by using mother of pearl powder sourced from Asateer to give it an iridescent finish and used to create the pin. Crafted with care in the Emirates by Asateer, each pin undergoes precision-cutting through advanced CNC routing techniques, complemented by a UV-printed graphic. Moreover, it is packaged in plantable paper, designed and produced by Mohamed Rowaizak, underscoring the designers commitment to sustainable practices and minimal waste design principles. Furthermore, the choice to package the pin in plantable paper further reinforces the commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting regenerative practices. With each pin, a seed of change is planted, fostering a greener future for generations to come.
